Ohhhhh my favorite color is Moda. Thank you. I recently did a podcast episode all about sew alongs (you can click the link in my bio if you haven’t gotten a chance to listen). One of the sew alongs I’m currently participating in is #myfavoritecolorismoda featuring Bella Solids by @modafabrics In the podcast we discussed why I love sew alongs so much. And while skill building is a big reason, I also love that it usually gets me to use fabrics and designs I wouldn’t choose for myself. And boy would I NOT have chosen this orange myself. Clementine is beautiful and I’m soooo glad I’m doing a whole block based around it. Outside of my comfort zone for the win!

Every once in awhile, a fabric pull is just crazy

Every once in awhile, a fabric pull is just crazy enough to work. I’m prepping to start Emily Dennis’ Fat Quarter Dash quilt which is so beautiful in it’s simplicity. So I’m breaking out of my solids streak and going BUSY. Like super busy. I’ll keep you post on how it goes.

This little quilt right here. It’s beyond love.

This little quilt right here. It’s beyond love. Every once and awhile I even tear up when I see it. This is my SassyPants quilt that I teach my students in The Modern Quilters Academy. I literally built my business around this baby. Every time I look at it, I think about the time I spent writing the pattern, writing and recording the entire course. I think about some of my students and the amazing fun we had along the way!

Why do I quilt? I could answer that in so many way

Why do I quilt? I could answer that in so many ways. I love fabric and color. I live making things with my hands. But honestly, These moments right here are what I love the most. I love that so many of our photos around the house are of us snuggled up under something I made. Or there is a burst of color on the wall in the background as I’m figuring out my next project. It’s seriously so satisfying.

This was my first successful ByAnnie pattern completion. And there were so. Many. Lessons. How to work with vinyl, how to work with mesh, how to work with zippers, how to bind in wonky corners. The list goes on and on. And it also solidified my love of ByAnnie!
