On this episode I’m breaking down all things sewing machine needles. I’m explaining exactly what those sizing numbers mean (and it may not be what you think) as well as what needles to use when. I’m even going over a little needle safety with you, because I want you to stay safe when you’re at your machine!
If you’re like me and like to read and highlight, you can check out the transcript here.
Sewing Machine Needle Sizing:
The first number is the American sizing, the second number is European (metric) sizing. Most needles show both.
Basic Rules regarding needles:
Switch them out ever 8 hours of sewing OR every 3 bobbins OR at the beginning of every sewing project, whichever comes first.
Never sew over your pins
Always switch out your needle when it gets dull.
And never thread your needle when your machine is on.
